History of the ISMR E ducational Congresses have been organized worldwide, attracting the leading scholars in our field and allowing regional colleagues the opportunity to disseminate the science of maxillofacial rehabilitation, offering an educational forum that is truly international in scope and philosophy. Our first International Congress was held in 1994 in Palm Springs, California. In 1996 the ISMR sponsored a joint symposium with the Korean Academy of Prosthodontics and the Korean Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Seoul, Korea. In June 1998 the ISMR met in Turin, Italy, patronized by the President of the Italian Republic, Ministry of Public Health, The Piedmont Regional Government and the University of Turin. The fourth Congress was a joint symposium with the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, held in Kauai, Hawaii. The fifth Congress was a joint symposium with the Japanese Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, held in Okinawa Japan. Our Sixth Congress was held in Maastricht, Netherlands, in cooperation with the Division of maxillofacial Prosthetics of the Dutch Society of Temporomandibular Disorders and Prosthetic Dentistry. In October, 2006 the ISMR and the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics held a joint meeting on the island of Maui, Hawaii. Plans are under way to meet in Bangkok, Thailand... September 25-27, 2008.O ur continued education endeavors remain foremost in our goal to enhance the field of maxillofacial rehabilitation. |
