Head and neck cancer patients have post-treatment functional disabilities that can be restored by means of surgical reconstruction combined with oral and facial prostheses.

Restoring a missing ear or a nose can be a lifetime gift. Rehabilitation leads to a rewarding realization of higher self-esteem and meaningful productivity in society.

The ISMR encourages our members to get involved and help... link to the following for information on our Outreach and Research programs:

Outreach Programs

Letter to our Members

Members have the opportunity to contribute and participate in ISMR Outreach Programs. Our work would include fabricating auricular prosthesis with microtia and cleft palate prostheses for unrepaired palates on children from Third World and developing countries, in addition to orbital, nasal, mid-facial and obturator prostheses. Volunteering your time to this healing experience can offer a lifetime of personal accomplishment, while satisfying your quest for unique travel. The ISMR has received and is currently seeking donations that would provide basic supplies, equipment and transportation for "ISMR Team" for several of its upcoming missions. Accommodations and meals are usually provided by the host country medical center. Many of the destinations have local dentists (usually oral and maxillofacial surgeons) and/or laboratory technicians who are willing to learn our maxillofacial prosthetic techniques, so that upon our departure, an ongoing service to those in need remains.

Providing maxillofacial prosthetics in developing and Third World countries is truly challenging and can be a refreshing reminder of how we are privileged to have been educated in our prospective developed countries. Many patients wait for years to be operated on and some children go untreated. In many instances, we will provide the first exposure of maxillofacial prosthetics in these countries. Our work, good-will and education that we provide will be an enormous and gratifying gift to the patients in need, as well as the local dentists and technicians. Your personal rewards will be cherished for years to come.  The opportunity awaits....
